Kevin Sorbo...thats right...I actually know who he is. When we lived in Utah we got three channels on our television. Of those three channels only one came in clear. That clear one was essentially a channel devoted to this guy. He was in 2 series that had a few years in production then they forced it in syndication on a nightly basis in 4 hour blocks...my rage and utter discontent for these shows...his shows...was pale by comparison to the foul language that that would pour through my lips on a nightly basis that coincided with his shows airing schedules....but i soon learned what the TV executives knew all along, that i too would grow to no longer hate him, but embrace that which was Kevin Sorbo, in all his poorly produced television glory. To not only enjoy the ridiculous action sequences, the laughable effects and silly dialog, but to become saturated with terrible entertainment and actually begin to like it.....i had become a fan. Now, he attends comic conventions and hocks signatures for 35 bones a pop....well worth it my friends...well worth it.

This costume was actually pretty cool. Its what Iron man would look like if his armor had been produced during the victorian era and was run on steam. Now, judging by the girth of the fellow and the tedious detail involved in this outfit, I bet he had plenty of time to create what is essentially a pretty well crafted work of art...To begin, im sure his mother's basement had plenty of space to lay everything out before assembly, thus helping with the final detailing. And again, Im just guessing on this, but i can't imagine his day planner was full of any activity that would require some sort of laborious undertaking and/or social interaction that could have potentially distracted him from creating this fine costume. Kudos....

Adam West....awesome. He's played the same character since the 60's and he is still making money at it. I wonder at what point did he just say "screw it, i cant get any other work so im freakin batman dammit!"

These guys are from a video game called "Fallout"....yeah...i like comic books and video games. Yes, im glowing nerd.

This is me and the Allreds, Mike and Laura. Mike created a fantastic comic book years ago called "Madman" and has since expanded his empire into other ventures. I met these guys while on my mission in Oregon. I first met Laura at a church function. It was a Christmas potluck dinner and it was my first week in a new area. I sat at a table with my companion, and we sat alone. The members in this particular Ward did not like missionaries based on the last few who had coasted through...probably because they were asses who picked up on the teenage girls in the Ward (if only i was exaggerating). Once the dinner had started i noticed a little family arriving fairly late. it was a shorter woman wearing a black mini skirt, leopard printed shirt and a kerchief around her neck. Like a bombshell walking out a 1950's flick. she scurried her 3 little children in and began to look for a place to sit. Unfortunately for her, my table was wide open and it had plenty of room for her and her children. we exchanged pleasantries and i asked what her husband did for a living, as he was going to be arriving late and really "didnt like church functions". she replied he was a comic book artist and he created "Madman".....lucky for me i knew that comic well and we started talking "shop". She was hilarious and had so many great stories about the industry, as she was heavily involved in helping her husband with his art. When her husband finally arrived, apparently just to grab some pie and then bail again, she made sure she introduced me as a guy who "knew all the artists". needless to say, i enjoyed their company and had the pleasure of visiting their home on a few occasions and bumming some food off of them while visiting. Im sure they probably didnt remember me all that well and Laura looks like she has just been threatened with bodily harm in order to get a picture with her and mike, but they did bring back some great memories.

Enjoyed this commentary on Comic-con. I think you must be spot on about Adam West, and wouldn't you say the same if you were him?
My husband attended Comic-con this year too! I am not sure what possessed me to let him go as I was 9 months pregnant and due any moment. But he went and met lots of neat people, even the Allreds. He's a big "Madman" fan too.
That's a cool mission story, and I'm not really all that surprised about it.
